How do you write a roleplay? Well, it starts with a character, and an idea, and goes from there. Who is your character? What does he have to say about what is happening? How does he deal with what is going on around him?
From there you have to decide what style you will write in: Web cast PR Promo, or Short Story.
Each type have their own specific writing styles. The Promo style is essentionall a rant. You're character is taping himself talking about something. It can be anywhere, and about anything. Just keep in mind that it is taped, and aired on the internet. So keep it realistic. If you kill somebody in your roleplay, then the cops will see it, and you will be arrested. Also keep in mind that promos are based more around how well you trash talk your opponent than anything else. If you want to get more into description, then you should take a look at the short story style of roleplaying.
Short shory style is written in the past tense, as you would see in a book. It is a story about your character. You can still trash talk your opponents in these roleplays, however you have to write into the roleplay that your character is actually taping himself talking or taking part in a talk show. Other than that, these roleplays are not considered aired, therefore they cannot be responded to like promos can. In a promo, if somebody calls you a turd, you can call them a fuck face right back. In a short story, if you write that you think your opponent is a turd, or you piss on a poster of your opponent, your opponent cannot respond to it because he has no way of knowing about it. This makes for challenging bouts, but its something you have to get used to.
The biggest secret to getting better at roleplaying, is to read the other roleplays. Study what your peers are doing, and learn from that.
And just a note: Please do not posts replys to roleplays on the roleplaying boards. If you want to comment on a roleplay, please do so on the OOC board.
